The Brighton and Hove Astrology Circle
Affiliated to the Astrological Association of Great Britain
Aim: To be an umbrella organisation for Brighton and Hove astrologers, and to promote a wider knowledge of astrology as a tool for managing our lives.
Time and Place: Thursdays 8.00 - 9.30pm at Revitalise 86, Church Road, Hove (opposite Hove town hall). All welcome on a drop in basis. Cost £5 (£4 members)
Programme: Talks and classes on different aspects of astrology. Most meetings are suitable for beginners and advanced. Bring your birth-chart if you have one, or ask Phoebe to print one out for you free.
Membership: yearly membership fee £12 (January to December 2010).

‘Arabic Parts’ a talk by Trav. The Arabic Parts are very ancient and very precise. They still have a place in today's astrology. Come along and find out more. Trav will show various Parts and demonstrate their use. |

‘Mercury Retrograde’ a talk by Julian.
Mercury the planet of thinking appears from Earth to go in reverse for 3 weeks, 3 times a year. This 'retrograde' period is associated with confusion, misdirected communications and is not a time for important decisions! Discover how Mercury works in this way and be 'in the know'. |

‘Guess the Mystery Person’, with Phoebe. In small groups you will be provided with a birth chart and given enough biographical details to guess its owner. The winner gets a prize! |

‘Is the Con-Dem Coalition condemned?‘ a talk by Paul Wright. Using transits and progressions for Cameron and Clegg, Paul will look what lies ahead for the leaders of the alliance, and demonstrate how to use these techniques in your own chart to gain insight into your past, current and future life. |

‘Retrograde Venus: Clearing Karma in your Love Life’ talk by Phoebe. This autumn Venus, retrograde in Scorpio and Libra, will expose compulsive patterns in your love relationships. Recognising them and breaking free could set you on the path to finding true love at last. |

‘Where does our Astrology come from?’ a talk by Chris Mitchell. Chris will talk about the development of the zodiac from its roots in ancient Babylon, and come to some surprising conclusions for the start of the Age of Aquarius! |

‘Sex Drugs and Rock ‘n Roll: the Astrology of Ian Dury’ a talk by Pete Watson. Ian Dury rose to fame during the punk era and went on to ride the zeitgeist of UK culture. His amazing story was made into a recent film. Pete will use various lenses to look at the ways in which the stars danced with his very special life |

‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ a talk by Pam. Lilith represents the shadow side of the Moon and the disempowered feminine. This year with Lilith in Pisces and Venus retrograding in Scorpio, there’s an opportunity for healing this ancient wound in the collective psyche. Pam will explore Lilith through the signs using the charts of women who are stepping into leadership. |

‘Horary astrology: Finding Lost Objects’ a class with Sharon who will take you through a horary chart, and explain how the houses and planets work when looking for lost objects, and how to find chart significators for other questions. |

‘The Astrology of the Seven Ages’ a talk by Trav. The seven planets correspond to the seven ages of man, pinpointing the high and low seasons of one's life. A very old and very easy technique will tell what age you're in and how you will fare. |

‘Family Patterns’ a talk by Phoebe. There is often amazing synchronicity in the conjunctions and oppositions that occur between family members of different generations. We will explore what this indicates about family karma. |

‘First Impressions’ talk by Ana Isabel. Ana will explore the Ascendant and its significance in uncovering the birth story. Together with planets in aspect to it, we get a picture of our first experiences, which helps us understand some of our unconscious beliefs about the world. |

‘In the News: Saints and Sinners’ a talk by Pam, who will bring along some charts of the good, the bad, and the ugly that are making the news this month and explore the transits triggering their charts. |

‘The Year Ahead’ with Phoebe. The solstice moment is seen as the birthchart for the coming year, and reveals its dominant issues. So what will 2011 bring? We will use the solstice chart to find out.

BIOGRAPHIES
Phoebe Wyss a professional astrologer, with 30 years experience in giving consultations courses and workshops, founded this group in 2005. To spread the appreciation of astrology she has published a board game, two books, and written a series of plays.
Pam Carruthers is a professional certified Western and Vedic astrologer. She works as a counselling astrologer, life coach and facilitates healing workshops. See her website www.healingstars.com.
Trav Travers’ interests lie in horary and traditional astrology. He studied with the Faculty and was tutored by Olivia Barclay and John Frawley. A member of the traditional astrology ‘Stargroup’ he offers both horary and natal consultations.
Pete Watson is an astrologer with over 20 years of experience in locational work. He used to live in Brighton but now lives in London. See more about him on his website, www.starscan.plus.com.
Julian Venables became a professional astrologer in 2002 and is certified by the Faculty of Astrological studies. He writes daily and monthly horoscopes and also wrote the Midpoint Interpretations for Solar Fire Gold astrology software.
Sharon Knight is a professional astrologer with over twenty years experience. She studied with the Faculty and then with Olivia Barclay and gained her QHP. She is Chair of the APAI and specialises in horary and electional astrology.
Ana Isabel, who been an astrologer for over ten years, broadcasts regularly on BBC radio. She specialises in combining astrology, storytelling and drama to help clients understand themselves better.
Chris Mitchell has had a life-long interest in astrology, and is active in promoting astrology at all levels. Chris is on the Council of the Astrological Association, helps organise the local astrology group in
Bristol, and runs an astrological events website (www.bristolastrology.net)
